Walking Between Worlds

Woman in a flowing white dress standing in a sunlit forest, her arms gently raised in an expressive gesture. Soft light filters through the trees, creating a mystical, serene atmosphere that reflects sensitivity, intuition, and connection to the unseen.

The Quiet Burden of Psychically Sensitive HSPs

For many Highly Sensitive People, sensitivity means being easily overstimulated by sound, light, or energy.

But for some of us, that sensitivity stretches into realms that are rarely named — into psychic intuition, spiritual knowing, and contact with the unseen.

For much of my life, I carried this quietly. I didn’t have the words to describe what I was experiencing. Only that I was “too much,” “too deep,” or “too different.”

And because our culture often avoids or pathologizes the mystical, my gifts became sources of fear — especially in the dark, where what I felt was more intense than what I could see.

In this personal essay, I write about the reality of living as a psychically sensitive HSP:

  • The isolation and overwhelm that can come from spiritual sensitivity

  • How trauma and fear of the unknown shape our relationship with our gifts

  • Why it’s vital to be informed allies to those walking these subtle, sacred paths

You are not alone. There is nothing wrong with your sensitivity.

It may be the very thing that connects you to deeper wisdom.
